Uważam, że jest to boisko przy nieistniejącej już Szkole Podstawowej Nr 9 na ul. Nowodworskiej, znajdującej się obok II LO (obecnie w tym miejscu stoi to sala gimnastyczna). W głębi zdjęcia widać budynek tej szkoły, prostopadle do niego ustawiony parterowy budynek to były toalety. Za plecami żołnierzy ceglany murek, który występuje już na zdjęciach adresowanych jako Nowodworska 11a.

My Grandmother Marta (Kania) Serówka (born c.1882 -died c.1960), can be seen in the doorway of number 15 - black dress with white hair.

Yes, the old houses in this area were demolished and new properties built including the school next door. I'm not sure when this happened but I would be interested to know more. I remember that we had a family holiday to Poland in 1970 (I was 12) and we stayed at Nowodworska 15 where my then aunt lived. My father 'Marian Serówka' moved to London after the war, met my mother and together raised four boys of which I was the eldest. Any information about this street or knowledge of the family would be most welcome. I'm sorry I can't speak Polish but I can Google translate! Steve

I too have found official records showing the family lived at 17 but I'm sure that this is incorrect. All of our family records and addressed letters always state 15 Nowodworska. My personal recollection when we visited in 1970 was that the house was on the corner with an alley way leading down to the old town. Looking at Google Street View I would place the house on the site of the new Pizza shop.

New evidence has come to light regarding the question of street numbering. My grandfather built the house on the left that was originally numbered 46 but all street numbers changed c1930 and the it became 15. In 1933 my grand parents purchased the property next door number 17 which was the entire tenement shown in the picture. In the centre they created a small shop and post office. In conclusion the 'Serówka' family home was 15 and the 'Serówka' family business was 17. I have acquired many more photos and drawings of these properties that I plan on posting here in the coming months.

do serowkaUK: I checked the address books of Bydgoszcz from 1933 to1936 and the Serówka family lived at Nowodworska street 17, not 15. I moved the photos to Nowodworska 17.
